Feel free to email or call me to discuss your needs or ask more about counselling. Finding the right counsellor for you is an important part of the process. For you to be able to discuss your thoughts and feelings freely it is important that you feel you can trust your counsellor and that the environment feels safe and comfortable. I am very happy to talk with you over the phone to discuss your needs and tell you more about myself so that you can decide on the next steps.
If you feel you would like to see if I am the right counsellor for you the next step would be to book an initial session at a mutually agreeable time. During this session I will provide you with information about what you can expect from me as a counsellor and I will explain your responsibilities as a client in the counselling relationship. I will find out about you and what is happening for you at this time, and the reasons why you are seeking counselling. At the end of the session we can discuss if you would like further sessions or not, or if you need to go away and think about it.
Should you decide that you would like ongoing sessions we would agree on a day and time and book in another appointment. I usually try to keep your appointments to the same day of the week and time, however this can be negotiated at any time. I will usually see you weekly, and this is something that can be very helpful at the start of counselling, however this can also be negotiated.
I don't set a minimum or maximum number of sessions, however I will review with you on a regular basis to ensure that you are still getting what you want from counselling. And when you feel you are ready to stop we will talk about how you would like your counselling to end.
